IPPS-A Update: PCS Absence Enhancement, Retirement Points, TM/KSBs, Screen Reader and Resources

Teammates,

Thank you for your continued engagement and enthusiasm for IPPS-A, and for quickly bringing issues to our attention for resolution. Some important updates and guidance:

Permanent Change of Station (PCS) Absence Enhancement

Team IPPS-A recently released a system enhancement that simplifies managing PCS absences.

Previously, if a PCS absence was approved but the associated assignment was later canceled, records could become “broken,” with no way to link it to a new assignment. Now, Members can simply update their assignment IDs. This means PCS absence records can be properly relinked and maintained, streamlining the process, and reducing administrative burdens.

Please review your PCS absence records and update your assignment IDs as needed to ensure everything is accurate.

Retirement Points Transition

To better meet the needs of the Army, retirement points management functionality for all Warfighters will be coming soon to IPPS-A.

The first release will include subsumption of the ARNG’s Retirement Points Accounting Management (RPAM) system into IPPS-A. In a later release, new capabilities will include Regular, Nonregular/Reserve, and Permanent Disability Retirement List (PDRL) retirement points.

These changes will ensure Army readiness by complying with the new DoD retiree reporting requirements and enhancing Talent Management (TM) through increased Total Force Visibility in IPPS-A.

RPAM brownout is tentatively scheduled to begin in September, and ARNG retirement points management will begin inside IPPS-A upon transition completion.

TM and Knowledge, Skills and Behaviors (KSBs)

In last month’s note, I mentioned the importance of KSBs and marketing your talents using IPPS-A. This is because the Army is changing, and it needs Soldiers with the right skills to help build the future Force.

I want to remind you to please regularly update your Soldier Talent Profile (STP) with your KSBs. This one simple action will maximize your potential and career progression and ensure that you are taking ownership of your career.

For example: Do you code for fun? Why not code for the Army!? If you’re proficient in programming and do it in your off time, plug that into your KSBs. Knowing languages like Java and Python can open a world of opportunities for you. So, market your talents to get selected for a cool job that will help you in — and perhaps beyond — the Army.

For help with KSBs, please refer to resources such as the Self-Service: Personnel Records Update Job Aid, Self-Service User Guide, and STP poster.

Screen Reader Issues

We are aware of an issue that may be causing the IPPS-A dashboard or other pages appear distorted, jumbled, or incorrectly formatted. It may be due to your current display preferences.

To resolve this immediately, please follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to My Preferences in IPPS-A.
  1. Go to General Options.
  1. Ensure "Screen Reader mode OFF" is selected in the Accessibility Layout dropdown.
  1. Click Save (located in the top right corner).

Oracle is working to resolve this issue. Thank you for your patience.
