IPPS-A Update (CSM/SGM Sends): PCS Absence Enhancement, Sensitive Actions PAR, and Updating Personal Information

Command Sergeant Major / Sergeant Major,

As we continue to make this “The Year of IPPS-A,” I want to provide you with some important updates, guidance, and resources.  Please help me with the dissemination of this information to your formations:

Permanent Change of Station (PCS) Absence Enhancement

Please inform your Leaders that we recently released a system enhancement that simplifies managing PCS absences.

Previously, if a PCS absence was approved but the associated assignment was later canceled, records could become “broken,” with no way to link it to a new assignment.  Now, Members can simply update their assignment IDs.  This means PCS absence records can be properly relinked and maintained, streamlining the process, and reducing administrative burdens.

Encourage your Leaders to review their PCS absence records and update their assignment IDs as needed to ensure everything is accurate.  For more information and PCS Season resources, they may refer to: https://ipps-a.army.mil/Drive-the-Change/PCS-Season/.

Sensitive Actions Personnel Action Request (PAR)

I have received feedback indicating Members in the field are ready (and already attempting) to use the Sensitive Actions PAR.  Please inform your Leaders that this PAR is not ready to use.  We are still working to ensure the information that goes into these PARs is properly protected.

For the time being, please have them use the legacy email process.

Updating Personal Information

Soldier contact information will be available in the Leader’s Dashboard through an enhancement planned for the end of July.  Please make sure your Soldiers confirm/update their personal information in IPPS-A to ensure it is accurately reflected in this new tool.

They can simply log into IPPS-A and navigate through NavBar > Menu > Self Service > Personal Details.  Or they can search Personal Details in the “Search in Menu” located at the top of the Self-Service landing page.

Updating their personal information (like how to contact them) can help them get assistance from their sponsors when PCSing this season.
