DD Form 214 Series is Here!!

The FY20 National Defense Authorization Act, Sections 569-570 of Public Law 116-92, directed the Department of Defense to:

  1. Modify the DD Form 214, "Certificate of Uniformed Service," to be machine readable and electronically transferable and include a specific block for Members to provide one or more email addresses so Members may be contacted after discharge or release from active duty; and
  2. Establish and implement a standard record of service for members of the Reserve component, like the DD Form 214, that summarizes record of service.

Recent Updates

September 3rd, 2025
Three new features and an important update to Block 7a have been added to streamline the DD Form 214 process.

  • Restart a DD Form 214 Workflow: If you've started a DD Form 214 but need to go back and finish signatures, you can now restart the workflow from the "Monitor Approvals" section. This prevents you from having to start from scratch. This feature is for those with both DD Form 214 and HR Pro Supervisor SUBCATs.
  • Manually Abandon & Delete: You can now manually abandon a unnecessary DD Form 214 if it’s in the following stages: Draft, Member signed, or Initiated. If a DD Form 214 is already completed and needs to be removed, you can manually delete it without affecting your other assignments. A "VOID" memo will be created to replace the deleted form. Both of these actions require approval and can be accessed at the "Actions" dropdown on your DD Form 214 dashboard.
  • Military Service Obligation (MSO) Date Update: Block 7a now has a simple "Yes/No" toggle for the MSO date. If the date has passed or was waived, toggle to Yes, and the field will automatically fill with zeros, preventing manual errors. Do not change MSO information unless there is documentation to authorize a change. This will remove the option for manual input in this field.

Please make sure to review the helpful tips below while working the forms in IPPS-A.

Initiating a DD Form 214 and 214-1:
Active Duty: To initiate a DD Form 214 for a Service Member, the separation assignment must be in an Approved status. DO NOT DEPART the Member from their Permanent (PERM) to the Separation (SEP) assignment.
Reserve Component: For a TEMP/SEP assignment, the assignment must be in either an Arrived, Approved, or Departed status for the DD Form 214 and 214-1 to be initiated to the User Defined List (UDL).

Use Customer Relationship Management (CRM) (IT) to process DD Form 214 UDL Maintenance:
If you need to add or remove members from a UDL, users must submit a CRM case to the DD Form 214 Provider Group.
Create a case using:
Category: DD-214
Type: UDL Maintenance
Detail: Add/Remove User

As a reminder, the DD Form 214 Series in IPPS-A is the process moving forward and does not apply retroactively to previous forms.

Your feedback provides valuable insight and ensures IPPS-A's development stays on target, facilitating informed decision-making and support of your Soldiers. Thank you!
