IPPS-A Update: ALARACT, Modernization, DUICs, STP Updates, and Resources

Teammates,

I am both excited and thrilled to have the honor of being the IPPS-A FMD Director. I have seen IPPS-A achieve tremendous successes. We are building a system that directly supports the Army's ability to fight and win our Nation’s wars. I appreciate your continued engagement and execution as we forge a more lethal, ready, and modernized force together.

My sincerest gratitude to COL Rebekah “Becky” S. Lust, who has done a stellar job of leading us through a time of significant transition and helping to bring about the successful sustainment of IPPS-A Release 3. I wish her well in her next endeavor.

Below are a few updates:

ALARACT Establishes IPPS-A as the Authoritative Source
NEW! This ALARACT reinforces that IPPS-A is the single HR system for military personnel transactions and triggering pay actions; personnel accountability of the Total Force; and personnel and pay information audits. This is critical to our warfighting readiness and our ability to rapidly project combat power. All components must use IPPS-A for a wide range of pay and personnel actions, to include leave and absence requests, award requests, pay queries, and other actions currently available.

To ensure our formations remain agile and administratively dominant, Army personnel and pay regulations are being revised. These updates prescribe the use of IPPS-A to initiate, manage, and approve personnel action requests (PARs), permanently replacing outdated Department of the Army forms, memorandums, and legacy HR systems.

Modernizing for the Fight
To fight and win in multi-domain operations, we must ruthlessly modernize. Legacy system functions are transitioning to IPPS-A to improve the Soldier Experience, increase Soldier lethality, and enable Talent Management for enhanced readiness — transforming industrial age personnel and pay systems and processes into integrated data-driven and forward-looking capabilities.

Exciting updates include on-time and accurate orders, pay, and promotions for Soldiers through legacy system consolidation and re-engineering business processes. Alleviating anxiety related to any of those actions allows Soldiers to go on the battlefield and be warfighters. For Commanders, providing quick, easy snapshots will ensure they can make decisions at speed and scale — moving their formations as required so they can fight decisively. And building speed and agility in the system for HR Professionals will allow them to manage the force and take on all the administrative burden from the Soldier and the Commander.

As Team IPPS-A dissects legacy systems, we are stripping away outdated "legacy habits" that are isolating the true mission-essential tasks required to sustain the force. IPPS-A is driving the modernization required to make our standard practices more efficient, accountable, and ready for the future. Our ultimate bottom line is the heightened combat readiness and lethality of our force.

DUICs Must be Registered in DRRS-A
Effective August 1, 2026, all Derivative Unit Identification Codes (DUICs) must be registered in Defense Readiness Reporting System - Army (DRRS-A) to properly reach Army Organizational Server (AOS) and IPPS-A.
Direct creation of DUICs in AOS will no longer be supported. Please verify unit data and complete DRRS-A registration immediately to prevent disruptions — any unregistered DUICs will be permanently terminated by the August 1st deadline. Please coordinate with your force management team to verify unit data and complete DRRS-A registration.
Soldier Talent Profile Updates
The newly redesigned Soldier Talent Profile (STP), built directly from user insights, is coming soon to the IPPS-A to deliver a single, high-impact snapshot that enhances unit readiness and decision making.

This overhaul provides a comprehensive view of personnel data, empowering commanders to rapidly pinpoint the specialized talent required to fight and win. Simultaneously, it provides the Total Force with a streamlined, user-friendly platform to effortlessly review and update critical records. For additional information, please read: https://ipps-a.army.mil/Resources/News/Article/4548962/ready-to-fight-redesigned-stp-enhances-warfighter-lethality/.
