IPPS-A Updates: Agile, Readiness Roster, PCS, Absence Approval Role and Resources

Teammates,

Please see updates, guidance, and resources below:

Delivering Value Faster Through Agile Software Development
As I mentioned in our last message, we remain committed to demonstrating how IPPS-A's Agile process is delivering valuable features faster, developing a higher quality product, offering greater flexibility and adaptability, and building confidence and understanding across the Army.

For example, the team recently adjusted delivery of updates to ensure the best outcomes and for improving Soldier Experience. These release items included enhancing the DD Form 214 workflow with a more efficient Pushback functionality and enabling an expedited approval process for Pay-Absences-Incentives-Deductions (PAID) tile actions.

For more detailed information, we invite you to listen to our most recent podcast episode, “Agile in Action: How IPPS-A Stays Ahead” with FMD Deputy Director, COL Ali Pruitt; FMD Senior Enlisted Advisor, SFC Brian Bass; and Agile Specialist, Mr. Jesse Wuertz; and to visit our new webpage dedicated to the Agile methodology: https://ipps-a.army.mil/About/Agile-Software-Development/.

Thank you for your continued contributions and for making IPPS-A your essential HR Weapon System. Please review the IPPS-A Roadmap with forecasted development efforts to gain a better understanding of some key features and where IPPS-A is headed. Leveraging IPPS-A for a Successful PCS Season
Team IPPS-A is working diligently to ensure the system is fully optimized by implementing major upgrades to absence requests, the assignment election process, and more.

These upgrades improve the Soldier Experience by simplifying and expediting crucial steps, including entitlement determination, dependent travel, and more, to ensure a smooth and efficient transition to your follow-on assignment.

Multiple updates include:

  1. Absence Reason Limit: You can now include a maximum of three absence reasons in addition to your travel days for a single PCS absence request.
  1. Parental Absence Combination: The system now permits you to combine a Parental Absence with a PCS Absence.
  1. PCS Event Selection: Prevents users from mistakenly choosing multiple of the same type of Absence within the PCS Event Request.
  1. Saved Addresses in Absence Request: The Member or HR Specialist can select a previously used contact/address without re-entering the information.
