IPPS-A Updates: Agile, AGR Assignments and Resources

Teammates,

Please see updates, guidance, and resources below:

Enhancing IPPS-A with Agile

As I mentioned in our last message, IPPS-A updates are being delivered faster, feedback is incorporated more effectively, and greater value is reaching our system users — thanks to our Agile software development approach.

Using Agile for developing IPPS-A means continuously receiving and using feedback from you, our users in the field. You directly impact the quality of the final product and your satisfaction with it. When Soldiers or HR Professionals like you identify issues or request improvements, our team can quickly adjust priorities and deliver fixes or enhancements in future iterations, improving the Soldier Experience.

You have seen what Agile has delivered with the Soldier Talent Profile (STP), Absences, Awards, Assignments, and more; we want to continue this approach to ensure IPPS-A is a product that truly meets your needs.

As we move forward, our team will provide you with more information and resources on Agile for IPPS-A. These will further inform you of how IPPS-A's Agile process is delivering valuable features faster, developing a higher quality product, offering greater flexibility and adaptability, and building confidence and understanding across the Army.

Thank you for continuing to contribute to IPPS-A and making it your HR Weapon System!

Army National Guard (ARNG) Active Guard Reserve (AGR) Assignment Redesign

The ARNG has changed how it manages AGR assignments in IPPS-A to stabilize benefits and improve AGR accountability, while leveraging other IPPS-A functions to begin transition of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) orders and Marketplace features.

Prior to this update, ARNG AGR personnel generally had two assignments: a permanent one that resided in the Modified Table of Organization and Equipment (MTOE) / Table of Distribution and Allowance (TDA) billet and a temporary assignment that relayed pay and benefits details. As of January, these two sides of an assignment for ARNG AGR personnel have been consolidated into a permanent assignment, and older/existing AGR assignments are automatically converted.

Please note:

  • For Members on remote assignments, an additional attachment provides home/host visibility and accountability.
  • Title 10 AGRs will now be linked to their states through Business Units instead of having permanent in-state assignments.
  • Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) benefits will continue until the end of a Member's service (Expiration Term of Service (ETS) / Mandatory Removal Date (MRD)) and will not be affected by new AGR assignments.
